Frequently asked questions
-
How much does a portrait in the classic Script-Portrait technique cost in 76x75 cm?Approximately €490, you can see more details under "Prices," but it's best to contact me directly since the price also depends on various other factors.
-
What is Script-Portrait technique?Script-Portrait is more calligraphy than painting, and so I work with those tools and colors.
-
Can I also commission a portrait of myself?Of course, gladly. Some of my clients also like to commission a portrait of a friend, which then makes a popular gift for that person.
-
Can the pictures be delivered?Naturally, I also deliver the pictures. An exact arrangement, including the costs, is necessary for this. Just contact me.
-
Is portrait painting modern?Portrait painting is not oriented towards an art trend. I see portrait painting as a need that dates back to the earliest times of humanity. Therefore, portrait painting is timeless.
-
What other types of painting do I do?I have been working in art for over 40 years. Of those, I spent 12 years working in South Africa, even engaging with the cave paintings of the Khoi and San. I have gathered experience in almost every art medium. Currently, I am also working on classic large-format portraits. See under “specials.”
-
Why copies?Buying art is a matter of priority and money. I want to give people the opportunity to acquire a piece of my work, even if they are not willing to spend a lot of money. Money is always a measure of priority.
-
Can I learn portrait painting from you?I don't have any webinars prepared at the moment. Feel free to contact me, and we can arrange something specific. Occasionally, I provide instructions via Skype.
-
How long do you need for a classic Script-Portrait?I need one day for it. Interestingly, most of the time is not spent painting but rather when I need to take a break from the work. Often I return to the work after an hour and suddenly see something important that needs to be changed or added. Thus, the work grows until I am satisfied with it and call it finished. The concept of “finished” in painting is a story in itself.
-
Is it selfish to hang a portrait of oneself in one's home?I say no! In the past, it was common practice in Europe for the upper class to hang a portrait of themselves in their own living area. Even today, there are cultures where this is customary. Presenting is actually the right word. Everyone presents themselves in their own way. Question? Is it selfish to own a large, expensive car even if you don't really need it and a small car would suffice?
